The special session on Policy and Regulation Surrounding Trace Contaminants took place on February 10, 2022. It featured guest presentations by experts from Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Science and Technology Branch. The experts that joined us included:
- Shirley Anne Smyth, Unit Head of Wastewater Science.
- Kelly Potter, Head of the Ecological Assessment Division.
- Laura Dornan, Unit Head of CMP Metals, Organics, and Monitoring.
- Sarah Radovan, Manager of the Wastewater Program.
The goal of this special session was to address ongoing challenges with clarity around the regulation of contaminants in Canada. The presentations explored wastewater science, ecological risk assessment, chemicals management and wastewater regulations captured by Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Chemicals Management Plan.
