Metro Vancouver has joined the Smart Water Networks Forum’s (SWAN) annual conference as the Lead Utility Partner. The 14th annual SWAN conference will be held in Vancouver from May 20-22, 2024. This year, the theme of the global smart water event is Bridging Water Realities: Embracing Collaborative Innovation.
As the Lead Utility Partner, Metro Vancouver will host morning utility study tours to the Seymour Capilano Drinking Water Filtration Plant and the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The conference will also begin with an opening keynote address by Jerry W. Dobrovolny, Metro Vancouver’s commissioner and chief administrative officer. With his wealth of experience and visionary leadership, Jerry will set the tone for the conference and highlight Metro Vancouver’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and excellence in water management.
“This year, we are celebrating 100 years of regional collaboration to deliver high-quality drinking water to our vibrant region,” says Jerry. “With our protected water supply areas, world-class treatment facilities, and resilient distribution system, we deliver over a billion litres of some of the best drinking water in the world every day.”
Adding to the uniqueness of this event, Dr. Amir Cahn, SWAN’s CEO added, “If you are passionate about the intersection of water, data and technology, join us for what is not your typical water conference. Based on utility feedback, we’re introducing a ‘prove it’ panel, cybersecurity role-play, an UnConference Workshop, speed dating and more. We’re excited to be bringing our global flagship event to the heart of Vancouver!”
