Canadian water utilities: Your roadmap to net zero emissions starts here

Is your municipal water utility looking to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions? Canadian Water Network (CWN) is here to help!
This September, we’re launching two Communities of Practice streams as part of our net zero water project. These communities are designed to bring together utility leaders, technical experts and innovative solutions to help you make real progress toward net zero emissions.
Whether you’re just starting to think about emissions or you’re already a leader in the field, we’ve got a stream for you. Both will be led by top experts and will showcase real-world examples and solutions to the challenges you face every day. Our goal is to help you reduce your emissions while continuing to deliver exceptional service, increase economic efficiency and provide value to your community.
|
Stream 1: Exploration Topics For utilities starting their emissions reduction journey. |
Stream 2: Advancing Topics For utilities with a GHG inventory in place. |
|---|---|
| Building your emissions reduction case. | Cutting fugitive emissions. |
| Starting or refining your GHG inventory. | Exploring embodied emissions. |
| Exploring renewables and energy efficiency. | Boosting water and energy efficiency. |
| Managing biosolids and biogas. | Exploring renewable energy, biosolids and biochar. |
| Reducing non-revenue water loss. | Resource recovery (heat transfer and recovery). |
The two streams will run from fall 2025 to January 2027. This is an excellent opportunity for project managers, managers and directors to:
- Gain practical insights from peers and experts across Canada to continuously improve municipal water services.
- Discover proven strategies and tools to reduce emissions.
- Build internal capacity to meet climate goals while maintaining service excellence.
- Collaborate in a supportive environment tailored to your utility's stage of progress.
Once you register, our team will send you invitations to the meetings
