La r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration de cette chaleur, qui serait autrement perdue, pourrait r\u00e9duire consid\u00e9rablement les \u00e9missions moyennes li\u00e9es au chauffage des b\u00e2timents dans les villes les plus dens\u00e9ment peupl\u00e9es du Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Les syst\u00e8mes \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques de quartier (SEQ) et les r\u00e9seaux d&#8217;\u00e9nergie thermique (RET) offrent aux municipalit\u00e9s et aux services publics des moyens pratiques et \u00e9volutifs de r\u00e9duire les \u00e9missions li\u00e9es au chauffage des b\u00e2timents. Des \u00e9tudes montrent que le d\u00e9veloppement du chauffage urbain \u00e0 faibles \u00e9missions de carbone ou z\u00e9ro carbone peut r\u00e9duire les \u00e9missions du secteur du b\u00e2timent dans les plus grandes villes du Canada d\u2019environ 36 %. Alors que les collectivit\u00e9s cherchent des moyens de r\u00e9duire leurs \u00e9missions, les SEQ offrent une solution pour y parvenir dans l\u2019un de leurs secteurs les plus \u00e9metteurs. L\u2019int\u00e9gration du TEEU dans un DES permet aux municipalit\u00e9s et aux services publics de r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer l\u2019\u00e9nergie thermique perdue stock\u00e9e dans les eaux us\u00e9es qui, autrement, serait \u00e9vacu\u00e9e dans les \u00e9gouts.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 l&#8217;\u00e9chelle internationale, les syst\u00e8mes TEEU sont en service depuis des d\u00e9cennies. Des pays comme la Norv\u00e8ge et la Su\u00e8de ont adopt\u00e9 ces syst\u00e8mes d\u00e8s les ann\u00e9es 1980. L&#8217;exp\u00e9rience du Canada avec les syst\u00e8mes WET a d\u00e9but\u00e9 en 2010, lorsque le False Creek Neighbourhood Energy Utility a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 pour fournir des solutions de chauffage au village olympique de 2010. Depuis lors, l&#8217;adoption de la technologie TEEU s&#8217;est \u00e9tendue \u00e0 travers le Canada, avec la mise en service croissante de projets \u00e0 petite et grande \u00e9chelle. Cette croissance a \u00e9t\u00e9 particuli\u00e8rement notable dans des provinces telles que la Colombie-Britannique et l&#8217;Ontario, o\u00f9 le d\u00e9ploiement s&#8217;est acc\u00e9l\u00e9r\u00e9 alors que les collectivit\u00e9s recherchent de nouvelles solutions \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques \u00e0 faible \u00e9mission de carbone.<\/p>\n<p>Pour tirer parti de cette dynamique, le R\u00e9seau canadien de l\u2019eau (RCE) a lanc\u00e9 en janvier 2026 le projet \u00ab Transfert d&#8217;\u00e9nergie issue des eaux us\u00e9es et r\u00e9seaux d&#8217;\u00e9nergie thermique \u00bb (TEEU RET). Ce projet est mis en \u0153uvre en partenariat avec la Building Decarbonization Alliance et b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d\u2019un financement du Fonds de croissance communautaire de la Banque Royale du Canada (RBC). Le projet vise \u00e0 consolider l\u2019avenir des syst\u00e8mes WET au Canada en approfondissant la compr\u00e9hension nationale de leur paysage actuel, de leurs facteurs de r\u00e9ussite et des obstacles auxquels les organisations sont confront\u00e9es pour les adopter. En cr\u00e9ant et en activant un r\u00e9seau de collaboration intersectoriel, le projet favorisera le partage des connaissances, l\u2019expertise technique et l\u2019action coordonn\u00e9e parmi les municipalit\u00e9s d\u00e9sireuses de faire progresser les initiatives TEEU.
