Empowering utility leaders to navigate risk, share solutions, and plan for tomorrow.

The Municipal Water Consortium is a national network of executive utility leaders from 26 major Canadian cities, collectively serving over 23 million residents (more than 50 percent of the population).

The Consortium fosters connection and cultivates a vibrant professional network. Members learn through peer-to-peer exchange and curated expertise and resources. Together, they tackle shared challenges and champion innovation — enabling their cities to act with foresight and co-create solutions.

The Value of Membership

Members of the Municipal Water Consortium gain access to a trusted national network, timely insights, and collaborative strategies that strengthen the resilience and sustainability of their water services.

Advancing Priority Issues

Advancing financial sustainability in public water services

The Consortium is advancing practical solutions to help Canadian municipalities sustainably finance the operation, maintenance and renewal of water systems. We work closely with municipal leaders and sector experts to surface what’s working on the ground. By uncovering sector-wide best practices, we help cities align long-term financial sustainability with service excellence.

Foresight in action: Anticipating change, increasing resilience

To help utilities anticipate change and adapt with confidence, the Consortium continuously scans for emerging trends, risks, and opportunities. This forward-looking work supports proactive decision-making by surfacing early signals and helping leaders prepare — ensuring Canada’s water systems remain resilient in a rapidly evolving world.
