We’re excited that Laura Fiore has joined Canadian Water Network (CWN) as the climate mitigation project manager.
“I’m excited to join CWN for the opportunity to work with seasoned professionals and contribute to critical and impactful climate mitigation efforts,” says Laura. “I look forward to collaborating with a network of experts and stakeholders from across Canada to address complex water issues and make a tangible difference in the lives of Canadians. This position aligns with my passion for protecting our most valuable natural resource. It also resonates deeply with my motivation for studying environmental science and industrial wastewater treatment.”
In her role, Laura, with the support of the CWN team, will lead the coordination and implementation of a net-zero water project. This includes establishing a National Advisory Committee, Technical Advisory Committee and Communities of Practice. The committees and communities of practice will help formalize a Canadian roadmap supporting municipal water services to reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs).
“We are thrilled to welcome Laura to CWN’s team!” says Sandra Cooke, director of communities and climate at CWN. “Laura will be a huge asset in managing a multi-year initiative designed to share knowledge and insights on implementing actions to reduce GHGs in the municipal water sector.”
Before joining the Canadian Water Network, Laura spent 25 years honing technical skills and knowledge related to project management, research, continuous improvement, communication and facilitation. She did this in environmental consulting and for the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Regional Municipality of York and Canadian Infrastructure Bank Crown Corporation.
Laura holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology and a Master of Science in Microbiology from the University of Guelph.
