Our commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples

At Canadian Water Network (CWN), we recognize that reconciliation begins with truth. We are committed to learning about and acknowledging the harmful legacy of colonialism in Canada. We are also committed to building respectful, lasting relationships with Indigenous peoples, communities, and organizations.

Engagement and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples and organizations are not isolated efforts — they are integral to everything we do. CWN has committed to integrating Indigenous relations and reconciliation throughout our operations.

Walking the path of reconciliation

Our approach to reconciliation is grounded in action. We collaborate with Indigenous-led organizations and businesses on projects that support Indigenous sovereignty, economic prosperity, and the protection of human and environmental health. Through these partnerships, we aim to contribute meaningfully to the well-being and self-determination of Indigenous communities.

Certified commitment through PAIR

As part of our reconciliation journey, CWN is proud to participate in the Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) program led by the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB). PAIR is Canada’s only corporate social responsibility certification focused on Indigenous relations. It provides independent, third-party verification of our efforts and progress across four key areas:

  1. Leadership: embedding reconciliation into our organizational values and actions.
  2. Employment: supporting Indigenous talent and inclusive workplace practices.
  3. Business development: building strong, mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous-owned businesses.
  4. Community relationships: engaging meaningfully with Indigenous communities and offering support that reflects their priorities.

Through PAIR, we are held accountable to high standards and guided in our continuous improvement. CWN’s participation signals our commitment to being a trusted partner, a responsible employer, and an ally in advancing Indigenous prosperity.
