2023 Annual Report
Thank you for your interest in CWN’s activities! We encourage you to read our annual report to learn about the vital work we undertook in 2023. The report’s theme, Moving Forward Together, captures the essence of CWN’s approach. Some highlights from 2023 include:
- CWN’s expansion into three program areas: water and communities, water and health, and water and climate.
- What priorities were tackled by CWN’s Canadian Municipal Water Consortium, which represents leaders of the 25 largest water utilities. Some priorities include the complexities of building climate resilience, as well as digitization and data management.
- The launch of a new peer learning program for public health practitioners in collaboration with the National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Diseases. The program focuses on how to interpret and communicate data from wastewater-based surveillance.
- The start of an 18-month collaboration with the Prairie Adaptation Research Collaborative, located at the University of Regina, and ClimateWest. Through the partnership, we’re conducting a geospatial assessment of climate models focused on water availability and crop yields in the Prairies.
- The return of our flagship event, Blue Cities, which was bigger than ever. It brought together 200 participants from across Canada, 70 percent of whom were decision-makers in leadership positions.
