2024 was a banner year for Canadian Water Network (CWN)! We grew our networks and our program areas, welcomed new members and received an award for our Wastewater-based Surveillance program. You can read about our accomplishments throughout the year in our annual report.
The report’s theme is Igniting Interest. Inspiring Action. It captures CWN’s dedication to bringing the right people together to identify solutions to water-related challenges and find collaborative pathways to get there.
Three program areas focus the work we do:
- Water and communities program: Helps leaders make more informed decisions about providing safe drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services.
- Water and climate program: Helps communities and water-reliant economic sectors find solutions that effectively increase climate resilience and minimize greenhouse gas emissions.
- Water and health program: Helps decision-makers, practitioners and communities across Canada assess health risks associated with indicators and contaminants in our water.
Our annual report dives into our work in these program areas throughout 2024. Some highlights include:
- Welcoming two new members – City of Waterloo and City of Winnipeg – to the Canadian Municipal Water Consortium.
- Launching two new multi-year projects under our water and climate program area. One project focuses on charting the course to net zero water in Canada. The second focuses on adaptive planning to help utilities for a range of future risks.
- Receiving a Water Canada Award for the Wastewater-based Surveillance Program we’re co-hosting with the National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCCID).
