Canadian Water Network’s (CWN) Wastewater-Based Surveillance (WBS) Program, facilitated jointly with the National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Disease (NCCID), is nearing the end of its first year. With that come some exciting accomplishments. Two streams of Strategic Sharing Groups (SSG) have been completed. One SSG focused on communication and interpretation of WBS data, and the other SSG focused on WBS in Indigenous, rural and remote communities.
As we wrap up the first year, we’re also developing a package of knowledge products. These include case examples of participant and content expert experiences with WBS. The knowledge products also include tools focused on WBS data communication and visualization, data governance and ethics. Please stay tuned for the release of these resources on CWN’s website.
Going into the next year of the program, CWN and NCCID will hold additional forums for provincial public health and a Northern Indigenous stream of strategic sharing groups, in addition to continuing other peer learning activities, convening local public health practitioners, and developing a strong network.
